Quarry Worker’s Organisation
The Informal Stone Quarry Workers Union takes on the issues of workers basic rights, entitlements and development. Over 8400 workers are members of the formally registered state level ‘Dagad khan Asanghatith Kamgar Vikas Parished’ (DAKVP). Ration Cards, access to Public Food Supply, insurance protection, voting rights, housing, healthcare, education, livelihood sources, becoming free from indebtedness and so on are addressed by the DAKVP. The aim of the DAKVP is for every migrant stone quarry worker and family to be able to live a dignified life. 

The DKVP has so far provided the following benefits for stone quarry workers and their families:
15393 workers insured under Janashri Bima Yojana.
2690 Ration cards distributed.
1 independent Public Food Supply center is run by a stone quarry women’s group for 1000 ration card holders.
21 Workers have benefited from various government welfare schemes for widows, orphans, destitute and handicapped workers.
600 families have received access to electricity.
 2550 workers have been enrolled in the voting list.
